Marcia Tambutti
Brief biography
Biologist from UNAM (Mexico), she obtained her MSc at Imperial College and the Natural History Museum London, with a Chevening scholarship from the United Kingdom. In Mexico, she worked on environmental regulations at the National Institute of Ecology and at the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO) as part of the coordinating team for the Natural Capital of Mexico series and the analysis of priority marine and terrestrial biodiversity sites. In Chile, she worked at the Millennium Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity strengthening ties between academia and the public sector, promoting science outreach, and developing memory-related topics. Since 2016, she has worked at ECLAC promoting issues related to biodiversity and the 2030 Agenda (SDGs 14 and 15), the Global Biodiversity Framework, organizing regional multi-stakeholder dialogues, coordinating with other regional commissions, and providing technical assistance to countries, among other tasks. She is co-author of several regional studies on biodiversity and development, biodiversity and ocean outlooks, good practices on cross-sectoral biodiversity integration, and transformative governance.
